Slide 21: Fusion fuel, hydrogen, is found in ordinary water and is cheap and abundant. Unlike fission, the physics of fusion make it inherently safer-a fusion reactor cannot go through a meltdown. Waste generated by fusion is expected to be less radioactive and to have a shorter half life, and is thus easier to dispose of than fission waste. Clearly, there are many advantages to fusion, and the process looks simple.
